Marietta Mardi Gras Run Girl's Night Out

I'm a member of the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta, and I happen to serve on their Marietta Mardi Gras Run committee (which is such a super-fun group of ladies)!  Last Thursday, we had a Girl's Night out at Big Peach Running Company to get everyone excited about the race.  Big Peach and Saucony provided the food and wine, and they even gave everyone a running demonstration as well as a discount on shoes and apparel.  They measured our feet and fitted us for shoes that are perfect for our foot shape as well as style of running.  I am already in love with the shoes that I bought as they truly fit me better than any shoes ever have.  It was such a fun event, and I have had such a blast this year serving on this committee!

Don't forget to sign up for the run: http://www.active.com/marietta-ga/running/distance-running-races/6th-annual-marietta-mardi-gras-5k-1k-2015?int=.

**You don't have to actually run, you can be a phantom runner, and still get the t-shirt :)**
All proceeds for the race go to our community partners.

Grant's First Haircut and 14-16 month update

Grant had his first haircut on Friday, January 9th at Pigtails and Crewcuts in Marietta (where Alli also had her first haircut...but she was 3). He loved sitting in the airplane car, and he actually didn't mind the actual haircut either.  He didn't love the part where the stylist had to brush out the tangles in his baby mullet, but once he saw the movie and got some toy trains in his hands, he was just fine.  He looks so cute, and so much older now with his big boy hair cut that I think he needs a few more years of smocked jon-jons to keep him a baby just a bit longer :)

16-Month Update

*Weighs: 21.9 pounds

*Eats: blueberries, strawberries, bananas, oranges, grapes, grilled cheese, mac n cheese,  american cheese, yogurt, squeeze pouches, crackers, chips, green beans....and pretty much anything else as long as you put it on a fork.  He loves using utensils.

*Says: daddy, dada, baby, bye bye, hi, thank you (ta tu), ball, Elmo ("bo"), this, that, train ("choo choo"), truck, Lila, Alli,

*Does

-loves to climb, but will scream when he realizes that he can't get down by himself (he's a pretty cautious kid)
-can open doors and climb up and down stairs all by himself.
-loves to open all of the cabinets and draws, and he broke most of our cabinet locks by pulling so hard.
-loves to take out the sippy cups and try to get water in them out of the fridge by himself, which results in a huge mess.
-pretty much everything he does, he makes a huge mess.
-he is into EVERYTHING...if there is something that he shouldn't get to, he will find it.
-he loves to throw anything and everything, and everything spherical is a ball.  He likes to see how far across the room he can throw his blueberries at mealtime.
-he loves to color with crayons...and eat the crayons
-still takes a bottle at bedtime...not sure why we haven't stopped that yet, probably just out of survival mode.
-his favorite cups are sister's princess cups
-he loves his sisters so much.
-likes to climb inside the drawers in the kitchen and bathroom.
-loves loves loves his tubbies and he will literally run upstairs when we say that it's time for bath.
-he also loves to splash in the toilet water...or pretty much any water.
-loves to press buttons and watch how things work....maybe Auburn Engineering school is in his future?!?

T2 City Finals

I played my first T2 tennis season with my dear friend and partner, Cyndie, from the country club.  We played together in a random pick-up match and meshed really well, so we figured that we'd do well in the league as well.  We sure did, and we didn't give up but one set out of 8 matches! City finals was held at Sandy Springs tennis center (which used to be North Fulton tennis center when I played tournaments there), and it was really fun to spend the day there.  We kicked butt (as usual), and will be moving on up for the next season!

Thanksgiving 2014

In all the posts about Christmas, I had forgotten to post about Thanksgiving! We had a pretty low-key Thanksgiving this year with my mom's side of the family at my parent's house.  We all spent the night there Thanksgiving night, and it was so much fun to get to hang out with my sister and her husband.  Phillip was with his girlfriend in Minnesota, so we missed them!

The day after Thanksgiving was fun also! I had to go back to Acworth for a few hours, but then made my way back to Suwanee, and my sister, Ralson, Josh and I went to see Mockingjay.  It was SO good!! After the movie, we took a few maternity shots of Kimbo and Ralson, and I'm so glad that we did.  She looks absolutely beautiful, and I know she's glad that she's not still pregnant :)

Yeye couldn't find the boy jammies, so baby Grant had to wear pink to bed :) He didn't seem to care!

Santa Visit 2014

I was a little sad that we weren't going to get to visit our traditional Santa at Baybrook mall in Texas this year (he retired from the Santa position after last year, so we wouldn't have seen him anyways), but the Santa at Town Center mall was super friendly, patient, and pretty.  The girls were SO excited to see him, and Lila even wrote a list for him of everything that she wanted.  I thought Grant would freak out when he saw Santa, but we were able to distract him long enough for a picture before he could melt down. This may be the best picture that the girls have taken while visiting Santa!
