SNOW DAY...part one

So, the snow on Friday, the 20th, was just a teaser of what was to come the following week.  Tuesday started off with a few snow flurries, and school was on a two-hour delay (that they called about 10 minutes after we woke up Lila to get her ready for school).  However, the flurries turned into actual flakes and started sticking to everything (including the roads), hence canceling school for the day shortly afterwards. Since we were all already up, we hurried and threw the snowsuits that Santa brought (thanks, Santa!) on the kids and went outside to play in the snow.  Two out of three kids loved playing in the snow, but Alli cried and said that it was way too cold...sweet little Texas baby.  Grant had the most fun of all and cried hysterically when it was time to come in...and then again when his little hands started to thaw out and tingle/burn.

Truth be told, the kids could have all probably made it to school when the delay would have been over, because the snow melted pretty fast from the roads since the temps were in the 40s, but it was nice to have a day to relax.  After we laid around through much of the morning, we got dressed in real clothes, went to run some errands, and came back to the snow for a bit.  I thought that may be the only snow that we would see for the winter, but Mother Nature had one more surprise left for us.
