War Eagle!!

I'm SOOO glad that Lila got to wear her victory dress yet again today!! It's rough being married to an Alabama fan during football season, especially when you have a cute baby to dress up. I was catching up on some school work before the game started yesterday, and when I came downstairs to watch the game, Lila was dressed head-to-tow in Alabama gear. Josh had put her in her Alabama dress, bloomers, and hair bow. Ugh!!! I just couldn't have that, so I had to change her into something "neutral," such as a cream onesie, denim bloomers, and an orange bow. Hey, the bow didn't have any Auburn paraphernalia on it! The first half of the game was pure misery, and I had to leave the house before I had heart failure. BUT, when I came back...they were back on the board 21-27. I still couldn't watch because my blood pressure was getting too high (only halfway kidding!), but ended up watching the last few minutes of the game and was so glad I did. Josh spent the entire first half screaming his little head off, and doing the most obnoxious Bama cheers, but he was MUCH quieter during the second half of the game :). I didn't even rub our big win in his face, despite his annoying first half behavior! He's at work today, so little precious is proudly sporting her Auburn victory dress!!! Thanks Auburn for helping us get our money's worth from this dress! 12-0!!

Now onto the SEC Championship in the Dome! It'll be the first game I am able to attend all season, but it's not a bad way to start.

What I'm Thankful for...

I know that if your family was anything like mine, you went around the Thanksgiving table and each person had to name at least one thing that they were thankful for. It's funny how our lists change over the years as well. I remember when I was little (8 years old or so), and I would mention that I was thankful for Barbies or some other kind of toy that I was obsessing about at that current time. But, we tend to realize as we get older that the important things to really be thankful for are not of material wealth or value but are of the love and relationships we have in our lives. We are truly so blessed and have SO many things to be thankful for! I'm going to narrow my list this year down to 10 things...Here goes:

I'm thankful for...

1. A wonderful, supportive, loving husband who is a strong Christian example to others as well as an amazing father to our precious daughter.
2. My sweet almost 10-month old baby girl, Lila!! I cannot even begin to imagine life without her, nor do I want to! She has brought so much joy into our lives, and continues to amuse us each and everyday with something new that she has learned.
3. Our family. Josh and I are blessed with amazing parents and siblings, who would give anything for us to move back home :) sorry, no can do (read onto my 5th point)!
4. Grandparents! I am so thankful to have 3 living grandparents that are healthy, happy, and able to play and hang with our sweet and very busy Lila Boo.

5. The Coast Guard. They frustrate the heck out of me most of the time (well maybe just some of the time!), but if it weren't for them, we wouldn't have this amazing life where we can live in many different areas, make many different friends that come from all around the country, have incredible insurance (gotta love military insurance!), and have tons of other benefits that come with being a military family.

6. Our Home. In the midst of the recession and the housing market failure, I'm thankful to have a roof over my head, and not just any old roof. We are so blessed to have a beautiful house that is a home! There is so much love between these walls, and I just love the busy-ness of the day-to-day here with an almost walking baby and a golden retriever that is two years old but still acts like a new puppy.
7. Our dog, Chevy! Sometimes I'm not so thankful for him when he scratches off the dry wall or sheds his clumpy, yellow fur EVERYWHERE...but I don't know what we'd do without him. Heck, I don't know what we did do without him! I think Josh and I must have just stared at each other before we got Chevy to keep us on our toes. He is such a good dog, and Lila just loves him. He loves her back most of the time, but tries to steal our attention away from her.
8. Our small group. Josh and I joined a small group back in September and have met five wonderful Christian couples that are coming together to grow in our faith. We look forward to each and every Wednesday when we all get together and discuss the study. We always leave there with our cheeks hurting from smiling and laughing so much, as well as with a sense of community in which we know we are being prayed for and supported.

9. Our church and our faith. I know I combined these two, but I'm running out of numbers! (This part should be #1 on the list--but the list isn't organized in order of emotional value) I'm so thankful for our Lord and Savior who gave His life so that we could live forever in Him. Every time I think about what He sacrificed for us, it brings me to tears, literally. It just blows my mind how someone could love us that much that He would be willing to end His own life just so we could live ours. It's incomprehensible to me! I'm also thankful that we have a place to worship Him and that we are free to do so in our country.

10. This one I'm keeping to myself, but you can use your imagination :)

Lila's Baptism

This past Sunday, we had Lila baptized in the Methodist church here in League City. She had already been dedicated in the Baptist church, but I wanted her to be baptized in the Methodist church because we have been Methodist for so long. Josh has been wanting to get baptized for some time now as well and decided to be baptized the same day as Lila. It really was a neat and special occasion for him to dedicate his life to Christ with his daughter, and it was hard for me to not become emotional standing in front of the church with him. His parents were in town visiting, and I'm so glad that they got to witness this special occasion. Josh has grown into such a wonderful Christian man, and he continues to grow in his faith everyday. I'm so proud of him!

After church, Josh's mom cooked us a Thanksgiving meal since we won't be able to come to Atlanta for Thanksgiving this year. It was so delicious, and it was fun to get to use all of our fancy china, crystal, and silver for the meal. Thank you again for the wonderful lunch!!

Children's Museum

This past Thursday, we went to the Children's Museum here in Houston. It was so cute with tons of neat things for the kids to do. Josh and I even had fun playing with all the exhibits, but we're just BIG kids anyways! On the top floor there is a place for babies and toddlers called the Tot Spot. We let Lila crawl around and play in there for quite a while before we headed home. Her Big Pop bought her a huge stuffed orangutan, I'll post a picture of that later! Lila loves to pull on the orangutans hair.

Texas Sunset

We had such a pretty sunset the other night that I had to run outside and capture it. I wish either I was taller or our fence was shorter, but you get the idea!...Oh and if this doesn't prove that God is an AUBURN fan, than I don't know what will :) !!

Lakewood Church-Houston, Texas

Lila and Karsyn praising Jesus

This past Saturday we met some good friends of ours downtown for dinner and church at Lakewood (Joel Osteen's mega-church). Dinner at Buca di Beppo was so delicious, and we ate way too much pizza and chicken parm., but a little splurge here and there can't hurt! Afterwards, we headed over to the church for their Saturday night service. It wasn't nearly as crowded as it is on Sunday mornings, which was nice. We got a great seat, and the babies were able to stand up on the seats in front of us and watch while the music was played. The music was so fabulous and the huge crowd of people there singing made it that much better. The service didn't even start until after Lila's bedtime, so she was extremely tired and fussy during the message but was able to crawl around and play with some toys at the top of the stairs with Josh. After the service, we got a chance to meet Joel. He is a super nice guy and spent a minute or two talking with us and getting to know us. We spent a while afterwards looking through the huge bookstore that they have in the church lobby. There were so many neat things in there as well as a great children's section. It was a late night for our Lila Boo, but it was well worth it. We had a great time out with our friends! Thanks Ashley for letting us borrow your camera for the pics :)

Thank you Daddy**Veterans Day

Dear Daddy,
Thank you for keeping our country safe. I love my Coast Guard bear that you got me. It looks like you when you are dressed up for work. I miss you when you're gone, but I know that your job is very important. I love you!

Love,
Lila Boo

9-Month portraits

Sorry no pictures on this post....boring, I know! But, I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I'd fill you in on our  activities of late (I know you're on the edge of your seats).

Back in July when we moved to the Houston area, I looked up photographers that would be able to take Lila's 9-month pictures since we wouldn't be able to come to Atlanta this time for her portraits. I found Brooke Schwab and hired her to take Lila's portraits here in Houston.  They were originally scheduled for November 3 (her actual 9-month bday), but it was pouring down rain, so we rescheduled for today.

We went to her studio in downtown Houston which was really neat. There are outside areas around the studio that we used, as well as the neat indoor decor. She snapped several of a naked Lila Boo which will turn out so cute! Of course there were several other outfits used as well as some Christmas ones. I can't wait to see how they will turn out! Lila was in a great mood and gave us lots of smiles!

9 Months Old ** November 3, 2010

I feel like a broken record, but HONESTLY where is the time going?!?! My baby is 9 months old, and I can't even believe it!! She is one strong little critter and learning so many new things everyday!

What you've been up to lately, Lila:

*Sleeping 12 hours a night from between 7:30-8:30 until 7-8am. You still take two naps a day, your morning nap is usually taken in your car seat as we are pretty busy each morning, but you use your crib for your afternoon naps for the most part. You can still fit in your little lamb swing, so when you fall asleep in your car seat, I just plop you in your swing and you go right back to sleep.

*You are eating three BIG meals per day. You love all of the baby food (although carrots don't agree with you very well), and so we are moving onto table food. You love diced tomatoes, any kind of cheese, crackers, bread, pinto beans, ground beef, ground turkey, spaghetti noodles, diced chicken, bananas, and of course Gerber puffs.

*You are starting to try to feed yourself, but I have to let go a little and let you make a mess.

*You are only getting formula in your bottles now and don't seem to care. You drink about 4 5-ounce bottles per day, but some days you don't even want that much...I try!

*You pull up on EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING!!!

*You try your hardest to get yourself in your bouncy seat, but can't figure out why you land head-first each time.

*You are getting to be quite the fast crawler! Your daddy gets distracted by the tv and has to chase you all over the house. You love to crawl back and forth between your play room and your toy area in the living room.

*You still love Chevy, and he is still so patient with you as you pull on his ears, face, tail, and hair.

*You and Karsyn still love playing with each other and got to celebrate the Halloween festivities together with your new friend, Brody.

*"Dada" is still your favorite word, but you will say "mama" when you want something from me. You also say what sounds like "Lila" and you say "Nana" too, which your Nana will be happy to hear! Right now, you're working on your /b/ sound.

*You learned how to clap your hands last month and love to show it off. Whenever you feed yourself a spoon of your baby food you clap afterwards. You also clap anytime you hear someone say "yay."

*You LOVE to splash water all over the place in your bathtub, which makes for a very messy bath time...but, it's so cute that it doesn't even matter!

*You were a pink poodle and a tennis player for your first Halloween. You had a ton of fun dressing up and visiting with your friends this past weekend.

*You love to give me kisses. You grab my cheeks with your hands and bring my face to yours. It's the most precious thing that you've done yet! Your slobbery kisses NEVER get old! Keep 'em coming!

*You are starting to wave hello and bye-bye. It's more like a big arm motion than a wave, but you're learning.

*You are starting to understand the word, "no" and hear it quite a bit now that you are exploring anything and everything.

*You still fall asleep in your jumperoo quite often. It's so adorable when you do!

*You are still in size 3 diapers, and will be for a while longer, little squirt! You are wearing 9m clothes, anything from 3-9m dresses, 9m pajamas, and 6m pants. My perfect little 50th percentile baby :) You make clothes shopping for future sizes very easy!

It is so much fun to watch you explore your surroundings more and more each day. You are getting so independent and already don't want much help in getting around. Standing is still your favorite thing, but will you please hold off on the walking until at least February, thanks! We love you sweet baby Lila Boo!
