Crawling Baby

Lila is starting to crawl! Right now it's more like a wounded soldier or army crawl, but she's getting to where she wants to go! I don't know if I should be excited or scared...

Playhouse Disney

Playhouse Disney is my lifesaver in the mornings when I have to get ready. She especially loves Mickey Mouse Playhouse and Handy Manny! I hope she won't be a TV junkie like her daddy, but whatever I can do to get 20 minutes in the mornings, I'll take! She was so into it, she didn't even notice a camera in her face (...or she is just so used to it by now!!!).

Houston Astros Game

Ever since we moved here we've been wanting to go to an Astros game. I'm so used to cheering on the Braves, as my family has been longtime season ticket holders, that I was confusing everyone here when talking about going to a "Braves" game when really the home team here is the Astros. Changing teams is hard to get used to! Anyways, the Junior League of Galveston County of which I am a member was having a fundraiser selling Astros tickets. Luckily, Josh was actually in town for the first weekend since July so it was perfect timing! The season is ending in a couple of weeks so it was great to get to sneak in a game before the season ended. My good friend, Ashley, her husband, and their baby, Karsyn came with us as well. Karsyn and Lila are 8 days apart, so they are already BFFs. Minute Maid Park is so neat! There is a retractable roof on the top, so we didn't have to worry about sweating to death or getting rained on as we used to going to games at Fulton County Stadium and Turner Field. It was raining on Sunday, so the roof was closed, which made the park seem smaller, but in a good way. Lila was squirmy, as usual, but her and Karsyn played together on the floor for a bit until it was time to sleep (there was too much activity for Lila to go to sleep, but Karsyn took a good nap!). The Astros won 4-3 against the Reds, and it was a great time with good friends! Next on the Texas to-do list: Houston Texans game.

Playtime with the Lila Boo

I so wish I could get into her mind when she is playing! I wonder what in the world goes on in that little head. But, I can't, so I just have to make it up!
Here Chevy, you can play with my stick.
We can share! It tastes delicious!
Can I have it back, please?
Look what else I found! I'll wear it like a bracelet.
Chillin out with my favorite toys!
Uh oh, mom caught me trying to climb up the sides of my jumperoo.
Maybe I can get all the way up there!

Good News!

I have a dear friend who is battling cancer. He has gone through 4 rounds of chemotherapy with some of the worst side-effects that I've ever heard. He had his PET scan recently to measure how the chemo has effected the tumor. The tumor isn't completely gone, but the doctors say that it has shrunk significantly! They are now moving on to radiation and daily oral chemo treatments. This family was so special to us when we lived in Florida, and of course still are! I'm so glad to hear this good news and pray everyday for God's continued healing power upon him! You're always in our thoughts and prayers, E!

SEC Football and Baby's First Tooth

It was a pretty good day for SEC football yesterday, all would have been good if Georgia had decided to show up for the game...Lila got to cheer on three different teams yesterday, Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama, and Ole Miss (although she slept though the Ole Miss game-as did her parents!). Josh dressed her in her pink and white Georgia outfit and then changed her into her camo dress which he called her "Alabama gear" for the Bama game **no offense to Alabama people, camo was just part of his particular game-day attire when he was at school there** The Georgia game was hard to watch, but at least our other two teams won. I'm getting more and more used to cheering for Alabama the longer that Josh and I are married (and the fact that they're the best team in the country makes it a little easier too! Yes I am a fair-weather fan). I can tell you that the first year of our marriage was a tough one when it came to cheering for the RIGHT team in the state of Alabama! Luckily, Auburn played on Thursday night this week (and WON! War Eagle!), so we didn't have to fight over which game to watch on Saturday! Next week, Lila WILL be wearing her ORANGE and BLUE :-)

Yesterday was also a big day for our baby girl. I felt that her first tooth had popped through the bottom left side of her mouth. I know most parents are really excited for their baby to start getting teeth and accomplishing other milestones like crawling, etc., but I find it a bit sad as well. I just love that gummy grin, and it's slowly going away. She is becoming a big girl more and more each day, and sometimes I wish that we could rewind life about 7 months to when she was first born! I can't believe how much she has grown and changed in 7 months and am so thankful for this precious life that God has given us!

"Go Dawgs!" I love my pink "G" Georgia shirt
Daddy and Lila in their Bulldog gear
Lila says "Roll Tide" while watching the game with Daddy. I won't say Roll Tide-but I will sit back and watch quietly!
Mmm this makes my gums feel so much better!

First trip to the Zoo

Josh has had to work an awful lot these past few weeks so a wife of one of his coworkers and I took our kids to the Houston Zoo this past Saturday. It was a slightly cloudy day which made the temperature outside very enjoyable. It was a total zoo at the zoo, and it took us almost an hour to find a parking spot! I guess that's what we get for going on a Saturday of a holiday weekend. Despite the crowd, we had such a great time! Lila couldn't see too many of the animals (I think she was happy just getting pushed around and people watching!), but Samantha's daughter, Kaylie, loved seeing all of the animals, and especially the fish in the aquariums. There was a tunnel that ran through one of the aquariums that the kids could climb through and feel like they were in the water. It was really neat and Kaylie had so much fun in there! The Houston Zoo was a really big, nice zoo, and I can't wait to take Lila back in a couple months.

7 Months Old

Wow, I can't believe Lila's on the other half of her first year already. 7 months seems like such a long time when you are waiting on something that you want, but it also seems SO short when you don't want the time to go by quite so fast! I'm trying to cherish every moment with my little baby, because in a few short months she won't be a little baby anymore! She won't want me to hold her or rock her, she'll just want to run around all over the place...tear! Okay, enough of the sob story, here is what you've been up to this past month my little Lila Boo:

*You weigh 17.4 pounds and are 25 1/2 inches long.

*You're starting to push up on hands and toes, rocking back and forth trying to figure out how to crawl. I'm trying to postpone this learning experience as long as I can!

*You put EVERYTHING in your mouth, and you don't want your pacifier for sucking anymore, just chewing.

*You can sit up for long periods of time and only fall over when you want to roll somewhere else.

*You LOVE to roll, and you use it as your way to get around. Our living room used to be hardwoods and now it's all pillows and blankets for you to roll around on

* You love reaching for things, and like I said before, if it's out of reach, you will roll around until you can get it.

*You're a very determined baby and will try something over and over until you get it.

*You play peek-a-boo by yourself, but love it even more when we play along.

*You love to say "dada." I'm not sure that you know what it means yet, but you say it all day, everyday!

*You love to make noises with your mouth. You spit all over the place while making these noises, which is fine by me, but not so much for the man next to us on the airplane.

*Speaking of which, you are an airplane pro now and have flown on a plane 10 different times.

*You love your musical instruments and shaking your rattles.

*You have met many new baby friends in your Texas home, and are having fun growing up with them.

*You are eating all sorts of food now: chicken, beef, turkey, every fruit known to man, and most vegetables. Your favorite foods are turkey, sweet potatoes, bananas, mangoes, and carrots. I hope you learn to love your green veggies when your older!

*You're still getting breastmilk, but you only nurse in the early morning when you wake up for the first time (usually between 6-7am). You eat three meals of solid food (rice cereal mixed with either a fruit combination or a veggie combination with meat added), and drink about 4-6 ounces of breastmilk in between, about every 3-4 hours.

*You can stand while I'm holding you, and you can sometimes balance yourself on an object while standing.

*You are sleeping between 9-11 hours a night now. You usually go to bed between 8:30 and 9 and wake up between 6 and 7:30. If you wake up closer to 6 a.m., I feed you and put you back to sleep for another couple of hours. You take two 2-hour naps a day, one at around 10:30-11 and the other around 3:30-4. However, you are quite the social butterfly, so you will NOT nap if there are people and things to see (airplanes, playdates, etc.)
You are learning so many new things everyday, and it's so much fun watching you grow. You are such a joy and blessing to your dad and me!

27 Weeks Later

This past week I was in Atlanta visiting family as well as presenting the scholarship that I started in honor of my grandmother at Auburn University. My sister-in-law and her baby boy were in town at the same time, and I was glad to be able to get together with them during our trip. Lila and her cousin Coleman don't get to see each other very often (he lives in North Carolina and Lila lives in Texas) so it was so much fun to watch them play together at their Mamu and Big Pop's house. Here are some pictures from their first meeting and a few of their most recent playtime 27 weeks later...

Coleman- 9 weeks old (2 months)
