Family Visits

We had such a fun two weeks of family visits!  My dad, brother, and Josh's parents were the first visitors to come.  It was so special to have both of my parents as well as my brother at the hospital on his birth day so they could meet Grant as soon as he was born.  Josh's parents drove in the next day, so they were able to visit us in the hospital and welcome us home as well.

My grandparents, Nana and Pop, came in town a few days after we got home from the hospital.  They visited for several days, and then my mom flew back to Atlanta with them.  It was so sad to see all of the family leave, but it has been so nice spending time together as a family of five before having Josh head back to work.

Here are some pictures from the family visits:

Grant's First Night Home

His first night home went so much better than expected! In the hospital, he was really fussy from about 9pm until around 2am both nights, so we expected the same when we got home (although there is no nursery to send him to here).  We kept him up a little longer during the day, so I think that may have helped a little. My milk had also come in, so he was getting much more satisfied during each feeding.

We all went down around 11, and he didn't wake up for the first time until around 2am.  He woke up every two hours to eat, but he would go right back to sleep after I would feed him, so I actually feel very rested. He is such a sweet baby, and I am so thankful that he is here!

Pregnancy Progression

I've always seen these collages on Pinterest, and I decided to do something similar for this pregnancy. It's crazy to see how much you grow in those 40ish weeks, and once he was born, it was hard to imagine how he was squished inside there.  (forgive the inconsistency in white balance across the pictures, they were all edited at different times :/ )
Have to give credit to the goofy photographer :)

First Bath

Before taking Grant's newborn pictures, we gave him his first bath a few days after coming home from the hospital. I wanted him to have clean hair for the pictures, but it also is a good way to wake them up a bit to ensure they are sleepy enough for the pictures.  He hated his bath, of course, but he smelled absolutely heavenly afterwards. I could seriously drink in this newborn smell.  Someone needs to figure out how to bottle it up!

Taking our baby home

We got released from the hospital around 1pm on the Saturday the 14th.  Josh was getting a little antsy towards the end of our stay since the Alabama/Texas A&M game was coming on at 2:30, but we all really wanted to get home.  It was weird leaving the hospital knowing that it would be the last time we would take a newborn baby home with us, and I felt very nostalgic. I just loved his little monogrammed coming home gown, and he was such a big baby that he barely fit into it! It still amazes me how much bigger he is than the girls were.

It is great to be home, but I will always remember our hospital stays with each of our new babies.  It's such an exciting time of new experiences and minimal distractions as we take in everything about our new little ones.  I thoroughly enjoyed each hospital stay, and I'm a little sad that we won't get to do it again, but I am so happy knowing that our family is complete!
