Lila's First Ear Infection

Even though Josh and I lived the early years of our lives with horrible ear infections, Lila didn't get her first one until she was four.  I expected our kids to get them often, given their genes, but thankfully, they have all been pretty healthy so far (*knock on wood*).

I should have known something was wrong when she ran a low grade fever off and on for the two days before the extreme pain hit.  If you take a look at the pictures below, you will see how miserable she was a day and a half before the worst of it, and I hate that I wrote it off as nothing.  I gave her tylenol, and the fever went away.  Poof, just like that, I thought she was better.  It all started on Wednesday night when she was brushing her teeth for bed.  She started screaming, like blood curdling scream, pointing to her teeth saying that her mouth hurt.  We put her to bed with her crying off and on and then pointing to her ear.  Of course, at nine o' clock at night, there are no doctors open, so we had to suffer until the morning.  We gave her more tylenol, but she stayed up most of the night screaming or crying and watching the iPad to keep her company.

Thankfully, I was able to get her into the doctor early Thursday morning, and within 30 minutes of taking the antibiotic, she was back to normal.  She hated the medicine at first, but grew to like it just fine. She really hated the ear drops though, and we didn't get very far with those.  The whole experience was really scary and sad, as I knew I couldn't do much for her other than just hold her.  I pray that she, Alli, and Grant continue to stay healthy!
crazy Alli...*sigh* we need to get rid of her paci like yesterday!

I can just see the pain in her big, beautiful eyes :(
