Popsicles on the Playground

The church we've been attending for almost two years has such a wonderful preschool ministry, and we are so blessed to be a part of it.  Terri, the preschool minster, organized a fun morning called Popsicles on the Playground for the kids from birth up through Kindergarten.  There were several baby pools, a bubble pool, HUGE water slide, baby water slide, sprinklers, slip and slide and playground toys.  Everyone got popsicles, and the girls had so much fun playing all morning in the water.  Lila had a blast on the slip and slide and was even brave enough to go down the big water slide a few times.  Alli stayed in the baby pool area for the most part, but she loved playing in the bubbles too. We love UBC!

Aquarium Visit

Last week when the girls had a week off of school, we went down to Moody Gardens for a morning at the aquarium.  We got there a little early, so the girls and I had a little photo shoot in the parking lot while we waited for it to open.  We also walked around the grounds for a while and they loved seeing the butterflies and the new Dinosaur exhibit.

Once it was time to go in, the girls ran straight for the big shark that hangs from the ceiling in the middle. They always prefer to look at the fake fish to the real ones for some reason.  They spent a little time looking at the penguins, and Alli had a full conversation with a cute little penguin that swam right up to her.  Lila really just loved walking and running around the place, but there was a huge middle school or high school field trip there and the big boys kept running around and knocked her down twice (annoying!!).  After she was knocked down a few times, she stayed a little closer to the stroller.

We stayed in the back observation room while we waited for all of the big kids from the field trip to leave, but the girls had a great time watching the fish from the huge window and climbing up and down the auditorium stairs. I'm so glad that we were able to finally get our membership to Moody Gardens, and I'm excited to spend a lot of time there this summer!

Bedtime Transitions

I must admit that Josh and I were dreading this moment for a long while now...moving the girls into the same room with Lila in a big girl bed. I really liked Lila being contained in her crib, and the girls sleep so great that we didn't want to mess anything up.  However, we have a baby coming in three months, so changes are necessary!  This past week, we moved the girls into Alli's room and put Lila in a big girl bed, and it has gone surprisingly well. Josh and I keep saying that we are just waiting for the hard part, because there is no way that the transition is this easy.

The girls LOVE being in a room together, and they spend hours laying in Lila's bed together watching the iPad or just playing around.  It really is so much easier having them both in the same room with the same closet (since 90% of their clothes are the same anyways) and all of their stuff easy to get to for both girls. We didn't start the napping together off right away, but tried it yesterday, and it wasn't quite as smooth as nighttime (since Lila really only falls asleep during naps about 60% of the time now), but I think they'll get the hang of it.

It has been one of the best things that we've done yet, and I am loving the way their beds and bedding look also! I can't wait to get Alli set up in her big girl bed too...but that will definitely be a while from now. I think waiting until Lila was good and ready for a big girl bed helped a ton, because she isn't waking up in the middle of the night and she isn't crying out for us.  We put a gate at the door and the bathroom door, so she is still confined to her room, but she doesn't seem to mind or notice.

Now that Lila's old room is emptied of her things, we are starting to officially get Grant's nursery underway!
