Potty Training

Yep, it's time. We've officially started the potty training process, much to my dismay. I love diapers...they are easy, portable, and not too terribly expensive (but worth every penny!). However, the world doesn't accept diapers past a certain age. I think we can still get away with them a little while longer, but I figured I better just go ahead and get this potty started (pun intended).

Lila is terribly stubborn, so I figured that this process would be a long and painful one (and it still might be), but, she is doing a great job, and hardly has any accidents while we're at home. She still won't tell anyone when she needs to potty, so accidents while we're out are inevitable. One step at a time has been my mantra this past week for sure!

She still surprises herself when she goes in the potty, and she knows that she gets a sucker when she is successful. I think she could care less about being wet, she really just wants the sucker, so by gosh she's going to do whatever it takes to get it. I may have to take the sucker motivation away when she goes to elementary school, but for now, I'm holding onto my wonderful motivator :) !

We've got a long way to go, but I've got to admit that I made it out to be much worse in my head so far.

Kemah Boardwalk with Friends

Yesterday afternoon, we met up with some of my tennis team friends and their kids at the Kemah Boardwalk for some (hot!) fall fun.  Lila loved meeting Katelyn, Samantha, and Brynlee, and I think the boys had a good time too! We rode the airplanes, carousel, and the train, and we watched the big kids drive the boats and feed the fish. Alli had a fun time running around too,  and she made it her mission to chase the birds by the water. We stayed until dark, and it was such a great time with good friends!

Fifteen Months Old *October 13, 2012*

Wow, 15 months old...and still such a little peanut :) She is such a sweet baby, and is getting over her short case of separation anxiety that she had this past month. She has also gone from walking, to walking fast, to running this month.  She and Lila have a growing bond, and they like to spend many nights locked in the playroom watching movies and giggling together. She looks more like her daddy's twin each day, especially with her stick-straight, brown-haired little mullet that she is growing. She is such a joy, and I can't believe that this time last year she was barely able to roll over by herself!
Here's what you're up to this month:

*You are almost 19 pounds and are about 28.25 inches tall.

*You have EIGHT teeth now. Two of them sprang up last month.

*You still love to wave and say "hi" to everyone. You also say "bye" sometimes, but that's more rare.

*You love Chevy and actually call him "dog".

*You say "mah" for milk and go straight for the fridge when you are thirsty for it. You still drink about 4 full cups per day in your Playtex sippies.
*You still clap when we say "Yay Alli!". You will also smile really big when we say "I'm gonna get you"...that worked really well at our portrait session last weekend.

*You love to play phone, and will use many things as pretend phones. You say "hi" and smile really big when you hold them to your ear."
*You are starting to hold your own really well against Lila now. The other day you ran her off because she was actually afraid of you! Way to go, Alli!

*You love to turn light switches on and off, and you get so excited to see the reaction to the switch.
*As you can see from the pictures, you are still in love with your paci...not sure when we'll get rid of this!

*You love to just walk around the house. You like to roll this color wheel pull toy around, or you are just as happy walking in circles around the house.

*You and Lila love to lock us out of your playroom or room and play together. It's so sweet to hear your giggles with each other.
*You still love to climb on tables and chairs.  You like to stand up on the chairs and look to your daddy because it makes him really nervous.

*Your favorite toys are riding toys, push/pull toys, remotes, phones, pens or crayons, puzzles, and little critters.
*Still taking 2 naps most days...one at 9:30 for about 45 minutes and the other at 2pm for around 2 hours.
*Bedtime is at 7:45 and you wake up around 7-7:30. You will play in your bed for a long while before we get you out at around 8am.

*Your eating habits are so random these days. You will eat the baby food pouches sometimes, but you love anything in the form of a cracker or bread. You love sweets, waffles, and grapes. You will eat Gerber ravoli as well as the pinwheel pasta meals.
*You are completely off the bottle, and just one day refused it and started drinking out of Lila's cups. The sippy cup transition was SO much easier than I had anticipated it being!

*Still wearing size 3 diapers, wearing 12 month pjs, and 9-12 month clothes (some 6 month dresses still fit).
*Two weeks ago you went through a terrible separation anxiety stage. It only lasted for two weeks, and you are back to your normal, social self. You still love school and have a great time with your teachers and friends. They say you have a little boyfriend that you play with everyday too.
*We are looking forward to your second Halloween in a few weeks!

La Porte Air and Car Show

After we visited the pumpkin patch last Saturday, we headed up north a few minutes to La Porte, Texas to go to their air and car show.  The girls and I had never been to an air or car show before, and we all had a great time. Lila loves airplanes (she's been on enough of them!), so she had so much fun being able to get up close to so many of them. She loved looking at all of the old cars the best, and she was so excited when she found one of the cars that used Tigger as a decoration. I loved a blue Mercedes convertible the best, but all of the cars were so gorgeous. There was also a Coast Guard 25-foot boat at the show, which was so special for the girls to check out because that is the boat that Josh used to drive at station Destin, Florida.

After we looked at all of the cars and planes, we did a little shopping from the vendors that were at the show. There were some great vendors, and we made a few purchases as well. Lila had the chance to get her face painted, and she sat so still this time (last spring she was a little scared to have her face painted). She kept saying "so pretty, so pretty" when she was checking herself out in the mirror.

It was a great time, and I'm so glad that we were able to go!

Clear Lake UMC Pumpkin Patch

I had a portrait cancellation last Saturday morning, so we took advantage of the free time and headed to Clear Lake United Methodist Church's pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins for the fall.  Lila has always loved pumpkins, and she was absolutely in heaven at the pumpkin patch. Right when we pulled up to the parking lot, she screamed "Pumpkins!!!!" and couldn't believe that she got to actually see all of them in person.

She walked around the patch picking up her choices and putting them into our wagon. She also insisted on pulling the wagon the entire time, which got pretty heavy towards the end! Alli enjoyed hanging out on the pumpkins for some photo ops with big sister, and Lila picked out a pumpkin specially for her. It was a great morning, and I'm so glad that the girls were able to enjoy the patch early before the pumpkins get too picked over!

September iPhone Dump

I have been taking more pictures on my phone and less on my "real" camera this month, so I need somewhere to put them. Most of them don't warrant a blog post on their own, but I wanted to make sure they get in the book at the end of the year :)
