Yep, it's time. We've officially started the potty training process, much to my dismay. I love diapers...they are easy, portable, and not too terribly expensive (but worth every penny!). However, the world doesn't accept diapers past a certain age. I think we can still get away with them a little while longer, but I figured I better just go ahead and get this potty started (pun intended).
Lila is terribly stubborn, so I figured that this process would be a long and painful one (and it still might be), but, she is doing a great job, and hardly has any accidents while we're at home. She still won't tell anyone when she needs to potty, so accidents while we're out are inevitable. One step at a time has been my mantra this past week for sure!
She still surprises herself when she goes in the potty, and she knows that she gets a sucker when she is successful. I think she could care less about being wet, she really just wants the sucker, so by gosh she's going to do whatever it takes to get it. I may have to take the sucker motivation away when she goes to elementary school, but for now, I'm holding onto my wonderful motivator :) !
We've got a long way to go, but I've got to admit that I made it out to be much worse in my head so far.
I feel the same way about diaper! LOVE THEM! Not too sure why some people push early potty training when diapers are so wonderful :) But yes....I guess we are nearing that "age". Sigh. We plan to do potty training boot camp the week after Christmas when we are on break from preschool. I am not looking forward to it. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI figured C doesn't HAVE to be potty trained until he starts the threes class at school next August...so... Hahahaha we're not in a rush. He goes on the potty every night before bed but that's as far as I've gotten.
