Escape to Casablanca-Holiday Ball 2012

This past Saturday was the Junior League of Galveston County's annual Holiday Ball.  It was in the Davidson Ballroom at the Tremont Hotel in Galveston, and the theme was Escape to Casablanca. This year was extra special, because I was part of the holiday ball committee with some of my closest friends. We had a blast getting ready for this weekend, and our chair, Ronnie, did such an awesome job with the event!
Josh and I got to the Tremont hotel around 4pm, and when we checked in, we found out that we were upgraded to a suite (awesome!). The suite was absolutely beautiful, not to mention HUGE.  We relaxed for a while before I had to head to Ronnie's room to go over some last minute items and to wait to have my makeup done. Ronnie had organized a makeup artist to do the committee's makeup, and it was great not to have to worry about doing it myself.
We hung out in Ronnie's room for a couple hours before getting dressed and heading across the street to the ballroom. The decorations looked beautiful, and we were greeted by waitresses passing out the signature drink of champagne and blackberry liqueur, which was so delicious! They were also passing out crab cakes, which are always great to munch on. Cocktail hour was fun, and we got to catch up with our friends Ida and Steve as well as Alita and her husband.  Josh was really excited to see his friends again since he doesn't get to hang out with them very often. There were also gaming centers set up around the downstairs area, and I wanted to play some blackjack, but didn't have enough courage to jump in.
After an hour, it was time to make our way upstairs to our table. Our table was awesome, and it was so much fun to sit with Carrie, Dana, Ashlee, and Holly (and of course their husbands too). Dinner was beef tenderloin, mashed potatoes, and fresh veggies, and it was all so good.  I didn't get a chance to eat dessert since I had to help with the live auction, but I hear that it was tasty also. Josh and I had a little fun in the photo booth after dinner too (he rocked a Santa hat and I grabbed some reindeer ears).
We never hit the dance floor, but the band, Mambo Jazz Kings, were really great and fun. We didn't win any silent auction items this year, but we did go in as a big group for a dinner at Gaido's down in Galveston. I'm already looking forward to it.
After the ball, we helped Ronnie clean up a bit and then made our way across the street to the Rooftop bar at the Tremont Hotel for the after party. The whole night was a blast, and it was so much fun to hang out with some sweet friends. I just love all of our friends here in Texas, and I'm so glad that we could share a special night all together!
