We stayed at the Animal Kindgom Lodge, and it was absolutely beautiful. Of course, Disney's attention to detail never ceases to amaze me! There were even little Mickey heads within the leopard print on the carpet. Our room was HUGE, and so nice. There was even a pool table in one of the rooms! There were 3 bedrooms, and the girls slept in little corners of the villa (Lila in the bathroom, and Alli in the hallway), and they loved it. The girls especially loved waking up and having breakfast on the porch overlooking all of the animals. Alli's first words in the mornings were "outside please".
Since we wanted to ease into the experience, we decided to stay close to the hotel and check out the Animal Kingdom on the first day here. I had never been to the Animal Kingdom before, so I was pretty excited to see it. It really is neat, and the girls really loved seeing all of the animals on the safari.
When we first got to the Animal Kingdom, we had a character lunch at the Tusker House. Lila thought it was the coolest thing to eat lunch with Donald, Mickey, Daisy, and Goofy. Alli was terrified of the characters (she would bend over in her high chair and hide her face) until Daisy sat down next to her and started rubbing her back. She came around then and loved them the rest of the trip.

The coolest things that we did there was the safari, the Nemo show, and the Lion King show. Lila asked almost every day after that to see Nemo again, it was so great!

After the Lion King show, it was getting dark, cold, and about dinner time, so we decided to eat at Rainforest Cafe on our way out of the park. Josh and I devoured some nachos, but I think the girls were too distracted to eat :). It was a great start to our trip!
LOVE this. We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge for our honeymoon in 2011 - so so beautiful and MAGICAL. I can't imagine staying at any other resort at Disney now! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your experience and pictures - it's the next best thing to actually going myself ;o) Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!
